Program History:

 

In 2005, the Lawrence Heights community was designated as a priority neighbourhood by the Toronto City Council.  An extensive community engagement process in 2007 led to an alliance between United Way of Greater Toronto and Pathways Canada to bring the Pathways to Education™ Program to Lawrence Heights. The program launched in the fall of 2007 as a 2nd generation program.

 

This summer, Pathways in Lawrence Heights will celebrate its 5th graduating class to add to their current total of 356 Alumni.

Catchment area: two distinct neighbouring communities bordered within:

Lawrence Avenue West

Bathurst avenue

Neptune drive 

Highland hill

 

Community Demographics:

 

On average:

  • 11.4% of households are made of youth age 12-19

  • 9.8% are immigrant youth

  • 0.7% Aboriginal youth

  • 51.3% are visible minorities

  • 31.7% lone parent families
